My favorite Nikon Lenses
My favorite lens really depends on the occasion / event. There is a different lens for each. Below are my top 4 lenses!
1) For Weddings I use the Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8f — i love how sharp and crisp this zoom lens is without being a prime lens. It’s actually the sharpest telephoto that I have ever used. The focal range is also perfect for weddings as it allows you to capture portraits as well as groups of people on a whim. Its a bit pricey but definitely worth every penny especially if you are a professional. You need this lens. As long your lighting conditions are right, you won’t need to edit photos after a wedding or event when you use it. So, its expensive but will save you a lot of time in the editing room.
2) For Portraits I use the 85mm 1.4f — this is probably the sharpest Prime lens that Nikon has ever created. Again, its pricey but so worth it for portraits and newborn photography. Its perfect for low light conditions and dramatic effects for black and white photography. If you only buy one lens, this would be my recommendation.
3) For my Telephoto lens that doubles as my Wide-Angle, I use the 18-200mm 3.5-5.6f — its not exactly a wide-angle lens but it can do a decent job for real estate photography. I also love the fact that its a telephoto so you can also use it for Weddings / Events. Its a multi-purpose lens. I also use it as my walk around lens that’s perfect for capturing landscapes / architecture.
4) For Macro I use 60mm 2.8f — this is another sharp lens from Nikon. I love that you can use it both for macro and for other details in newborn photography.
So there you have it! I shoot in Manual mode in RAW and use Photoshop CC 2018 and Light-room for post editing.
